FRUrethritis
Inflammation of the tube that carries urine out of the bladder.
It is most often due to an infection (chlamydia, gonococcus) and causes pain when urinating.
The signs: burning, pressing urges, abnormal discharge. Prompt antibiotic treatment keeps the infection from spreading.

Definition
Urethritis is inflammation of the urethral canal. It causes burning, sometimes discharge, and discomfort when urinating.
Causes
Most often a sexually transmitted infection (chlamydia, gonococcus, mycoplasma); sometimes mechanical irritation.
Diagnosis
- Urethral swab or first-void urine test (PCR).
Treatments
An antibiotic treatment adapted to the germ, with treatment of the partner(s) to avoid reinfection. A thin pad keeps linen clean during treatment.
Urethral discharge can stain underwear during treatment. A thin bladder control pad, Hospeen Lady or Men guard, keeps linen clean and is easy to change.
